Hipster Winter Outfit: Vintage And Modern Together

In this look I pulled together a perfect winter hipster outfit: a faux fur jacket, 80s fashion jeans, bold Jeffrey Campbell boots and of course a bright pom-pom tuque.

I got these vintage jeans in San-Francisco a couple of years ago. They are so typical of the 80s – a high rise, loose cut that flatters the curves. I remember how I bought them. I was in a thrift store that sells clothes per weight somewhere in the middle of Mission District. Bright Californian sun was shining through the dusty store window, and I was turning around in front of the mirror and thinking – should I take them or not? The feminine cut concerned me, but the price was good, and I was telling myself: “Ok, ok, you can always turn them into cut-off shorts.” Nice try! I did buy the jeans, and they spent these two years laying forgotten on the top shelve of my closet. Making shorts does not seem like a good idea anymore – I already have so many of them! – instead I’ll probably keep the jeans as is and do some distressing here and there.

My Hipster Bracelets: Second Hand and DIY

In my bracelet stack I combine thrifted pieces with some of my creations. The variety of the pieces brings in a mixture of textures and materials that gives the bracelet stack a distinguishable hipster look.

I got the wolf bracelet about 4 years ago, and it was one of my first thrift jewelry finds. Back then I was surprised by its quality, which was pretty good for a cheap second hand piece, and I am still surprised nowadays. It still looks as a good as 4 years ago! The bracelet fastener works well, and the silver tone coating does not look chipped.  The quality of the coating is especially noticeable in comparison to the one of the structural rings, which lost most of its coating 3 months after I bought it.

I like their neutral black and greyish color, since they can fit with any outfit. The bracelets are made with elastic string, so it is super easy to put them on. It is especially convenient in the morning when I am always in rush getting ready for work.

Behind The Scene Of The Photoshoot

The pictures were taken in my neighbourhood during the last thaw in the end of December. My neighbourhood usually looks pretty; however, during winter thaws, its dirty side gets exposed. Trash piles up on the streets, revealed by the melting snow. Whereas in spring and summer, cleaning trucks come every week to do their noble cleaning job, in winter they stay home cuddling under the blanket leaving the trash out there on its own.

Simply speaking, that day my street did not look pretty. So, I chose the cleanest spot I could find – its middle!
