A Cute Candy Outfit With Vintage Pieces Helps To Get Summer Vibe Back
This outfits is about candies, pastels and cute sweatshirts – and it is my ally in a battle with fall melancholy. It is a beginning of November, and I am already so tired of seeing only grey and black clothes on the streets of Montreal. Grumpy faces, dark clothes, dull looks – isn’t it us who make the fall sad and depressing? I decided to fight the mood and revive some of the summer vibe.
So I pulled out my bright summer clothes and put together with a cute sweatshirt with heart shaped candy pattern.
I bought the sweatshirt last year as a gift for myself for St-Valentine’s. I like the pattern, but in fact the sweatshirt is a bit too long and fitted on the bottom. This makes it impractical. It goes up when I sit , so once I stand up I have to pull it back down. Also it slightly goes up when I walk. I would prefer if it had a zipper. Oh well, at least the candy pattern is super cute 🙂
I paired it with teal jeans, marshmallow wedged creepers and a vintage denim jacket. The only accessory I had was a hand candy: a bright green vintage ring.
Behind The Scene Of The Candy Outfit
On the pictures I eat a brochette of gummy candies. The idea of eating candies came to my mind when we were already on our way to the shooting. We dropped by a grocery store where I got many different candies – gummy bears, peach circles… and while paying I saw this brochette next to the cashier. I grabbed it and ended up using only it.
This time I chose a spot next to a store that sells second hand washers and dryers. It was Saturday, and the store was closed. The owner decorated the front wall with drawing of washers and dryers, but now the drawings are covered with graffiti. The graffiti is a very common wall “decoration” in my neighbourhood – I heard they are drawn by local semi-criminal groups to split the territory. You may think my neighbourhood is not the most prestigious one in Montreal – and you are absolutely right. Still, it is safe. Montreal is in general a very safe city. As for the graffiti, the city has a special removal program to keep the walls clean: they come for free and remove the ugliness. But it looks like the store owner has never bothered to apply. I bet it is expensive to re-draw the pictures, so now the wall looks like a colourful mess.
How To Get The Look
Well, some of the items of the candy outfit are vintage, and some are not available anymore. Looks like the brands have hid away summer clothes even in online stores.
